Pianist Philip Richardson

Born in the UK, Philip Richardson grew up in the Netherlands. He obtained an MA in musicology from Cambridge University. He studied piano accompaniment at the Royal Academy of Music in London (where he won the Evelyn German award) and then at the Hanover University of Music. He pursued his studies at the Accademia del Teatro alla Scala of Milan and lastly at the Opéra-Studio of the Opéra national du Rhin. He has taken part in master classes conducted by Christoph Prégardien, Malcolm Martineau and Anne Murray in Aldeburgh. He has worked as a répétiteuron L’Occasione fa il ladro (Rossini) and Le Convenienze ed Inconvenienze teatrali (Donizetti) at the Teatro alla Scala and Don Pasquale at the Opéra national du Rhin. Engaged since 2011 at the Atelier Lyrique of the Paris Opera, he has accompanied many concerts at the Bastille Amphitheatre and the Louvre Auditorium. He has worked as a répétiteur onLa Resurrezione (Handel), La Finta Giardiniera (Mozart), L’Isola disabitata (Haydn), and as a répétiteur and harpsichordist on Il Mondo della luna (Haydn). In July 2012 he pursued a study program of works by Britten and Messiaen at the Academy of the Festival of Aix-en-Provence, which he was invited to attend once more in July 2013. He accompanies at Nei Stëmmen Academy in Luxembourg the master classes given by Teresa Berganza.  At the Paris Opera, he has ensured the piano rehearsals of The Merry Widow (under the musical direction of Asher Fisch), of The Barber of Seville (Marco Armiliato) and of La Clemenza Di Tito (Tomas Netopil). He has been a member of the artist collective Miroirs Étendus since 2014.

Né en Grande-Bretagne, Philip Richardson grandit aux Pays-Bas. Il obtient son diplôme de musicologie à l’Université de Cambridge. Il commence ses études de pianiste chef de chant à la Royal Academy of Music à Londres – où il remporte le prix Evelyn German – puis à la Hochschule für Musik à Hanovre. Il les poursuit à l’Accademia del Teatro alla Scala de Milan et enfin à l’Opéra-Studio de l’Opéra National du Rhin. Il travaille comme chef de chant pour L’Occasione fa il ladro (Rossini) et Le Convenienze ed Inconvenienze teatrali (Donizetti) au Teatro alla Scala et Don Pasquale à l’Opéra National du Rhin.
De 2011 à 2014 à l’Atelier Lyrique de l’Opéra national de Paris, il accompagne de nombreux concerts à l’Amphithéâtre Bastille et à l’Auditorium du Louvre. Il est chef de chant sur La Resurrezione (Haendel), La Finta Giardiniera (Mozart),L’Isola disabitata (Haydn). Il est chef de chant et claveciniste pour Il Mondo della luna (Haydn).
En juillet 2012, il suit un programme d’études d’oeuvres de Britten et Messiaen à l’Académie du Festival d’Aix-en-Provence où il est à nouveau invité en juillet 2013. Il accompagne des master classes dirigées par Teresa Berganza au Luxembourg au sein de l’Académie Nei Stëmmen.
A l’Opéra national de Paris, il assure les répétitions piano de La Veuve joyeuse (direction musicale Asher Fisch), duBarbier de Séville (Marco Armiliato) et de La Clemenza Di Tito (Tomas Netopil).
Depuis l’été 2014 il travail comme coach pour les chanteurs de la Chapelle Musicale Reine Elizabeth à Bruxelles, ou il accompagne aussi les masterclasses de José van Dam.
